Neither team scored in the first quarter, but the Oredockers stopped the Robins on a 4th-down-and-1 at their own 39. A 15-yard run by Lustig and runs of 4 and 15 by Parker Goodreau gave Ashland a first down at the 5. Ashland faced a 3rd-and-15 from the 15-yard line when Jolma lofted a pass to Kruzan, who had gotten behind the defender. Kruzan caught the pass in stride at midfield and took it the distance for an 85-yard touchdown. This time, Lustig’s extra point was wide and Ashland led, 13-0 with 9:05 left.
